International Conference Gives Thumbs up to Norwich

More than 200 pig producers from 13 countries, including The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Finland and Poland were based in Norwich from June 5 to 7 for the European Pig Producers Association Annual Congress. It was the first time that the congress has been in the UK since 1997.

Virginia Edwards, Manager, Norwich & Norfolk Conference Bureau said: “It was a real coup for the city to secure this congress, which goes to a different European country each year.  The conference was based at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel, but we provided a range of accommodation for delegates. We also arranged an evening cruise on the Norfolk Broads as well as a partner programme, which included a shopping expedition in Norwich and a day tour to The National Trust’s Felbrigg estate on the North Norfolk Coast.”

Ian Campbell Conference Organiser, European Pig Producers said: “Virginia Edwards and the Conference Bureau really helped set me on the right path. They have been absolutely superb. My task would have been much more daunting without their help. Our congress provides a great opportunity for European pig producers to network and exchange experiences and ideas on the future of our industry. Norwich and the county of Norfolk has been the perfect setting for our deliberations.”

Rod Tuck, European Pig Producers added: “Everything was excellent and everyone had a wonderful time. Norfolk and Norwich is a truly professional destination.”
