Norwich Hosts International e-Democracy Conference

Norwich hosted the third e-voice International Symposium on e-Participation on May 22 and 23. More than 100 delegates from Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden and the UK were based at The Maids Head Hotel. The conference was the final meeting of the four-year EU funded evoice project, which explored the opportunities for multi media communication to increase public involvement in local democracy.

International Conference Gives Thumbs up to Norwich

 More than 200 pig producers from 13 countries, including The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Finland and Poland were based in Norwich from June 5 to 7 for the European Pig Producers Association Annual Congress. It was the first time that the congress has been in the UK since 1997.

Norwich - not Liverpool - is the UK’s Cultural Capital

Norwich may have launched an unsuccessful bid to be the European Capital of Culture in 2008, but it seems the judges were wrong. The East Anglian city has more cultural activity than anywhere else in the UK relative to population size, according to new research by local information website locallife.co.uk. Norwich has 10.96 art galleries, bookshops, museums, theatres, dance and drama schools, film venues, music studios, opera, ballet, arts and crafts shops and musical instrument retailers for every 10,000 residents.

Survey reveals organisers top 10 concerns

Event organisers worry more about their event being useful and enjoyable to attendees than anything else, according to a new survey, while environmental and social factors have yet to rise in importance above commercial concerns.

The report, carried out by event insurance specialist Insurex Expo-Sure, found that 87% of respondents rated making their event useful and enjoyable to delegates their major preoccupation, yet only 49% said the environmental impact of their events was a priority, which ranked 10th in organisers’ concerns.

Norwich Fastest Growing Tourist Destination

The Norwich ForumLateRooms.com's top ten fastest growing UK tourist destinations finds Norfolk capital in number one spot.

UK tourists flocked to Norwich last year with the city experiencing the fastest growth in overnight hotel stays in the UK.

This is according to research by late availability hotel specialist LateRooms.com, which compared bookings from 2006 and 2007 to find the UK's emerging tourist destinations.
